We just spoke with the surgeon. He said that everything went well and he got all the nodes. None of them looked dark. We will get results Monday or Tuesday next week on the results of the removed nodes. He was able to preserve the spinal accessory nerve (she should be able to lift her arm above her head eventually again). All the branches of the facial nerve were working when he closed so there shouldn’t be any complications there. She is in the ICU right now so they can continue to monitor the baby while she is coming out of anesthesia. The doctor looked very tired as I’m sure anyone would be after 6+ hours of surgery. We’re now just waiting for word when we can visit Shannon either in recovery or in her room… A lot of anxiety has been released for all of us and hopefully this is the start of the long road to recovery. All the prayers and positive energy are working.
