It is a little after 8:30 pm on Thursday night and Shannon has, in the words of her nurse, “stalled at 6 cm, which often happens…but she is doing fine and will have energy when she needs it.” Shannon’s “super puffy heart” doctor started his shift at 5 pm and will discuss with her the option of “breaking her water,” which typically moves the process forward. Shannon’s doula has been with her and Peter all day and has been wonderful for all of us, giving Shannon important support and suggestions when appropriate and also keeping Gretchen, Caryn (good friend and photographer), and me informed (in the waiting room) on Shan’s progress. To be continued!
