As a linguist, I’ve always tried really hard not to have pet peeves about grammar, spelling, usage, etc. Language is always changing and evolving, no matter how hard people rail against it or claim that English is going to hell in a handbasket and we’re all doomed. As a reformed English major, though, some things do bother me. And no, this post wasn’t inspired by anyone in particular, so don’t worry!
